Ambition

Everyone says they have ambition.  I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone admit that they want to be mediocre.

You see ambition isn’t something that you either have or don’t have, it’s something that any given human possesses, but everyone has it with varying amounts.

What very few humans have though is enough ambition to accept nothing but success.  That, my friends, is very rare.  That’s the intangible I admire most in my idols.

The Warren Buffetts, the Michael Jordans, the Steve Jobs’.  I’m quite sure that these individuals would’ve been successful in life somehow, even if we had taken them away from their respective disciplines.  Jordan would’ve found a way to become a world-class hedge fund manager, or a renowned magician, or a Nobel Laureate.  Somehow he would’ve found something else to be great at if basketball wasn’t an option.  And you might point to his mediocrity in baseball, but I wholeheartedly believe that he could’ve been a 40+ home-run hitter in the majors if he would’ve stuck with it a couple more seasons.

“I wouldn’t bet against him.”  That phrase is what describes those who have a lot of ambition.  They just won’t accept not being in the top tier.  This is easy to say, but it’s very hard to follow through on when adversity rears its ugly head into our lives.

Now I dare to ask you: Do you have ambition?

Just like the Wale song ft. Meek Mill and Rick Ross “Ambition” – Ambition is in your veins. Just like action it’s within us all. Great post Alex.

To me, ambition equals hard work. Striving to meet your goals, whatever they may be, not only guarantees success, but builds character and self-confidence to go on to the next challenge.
